A super strong composition with form emerging from the darkness. Lovely. Congratulations on your top 20 finish.

Im glad this did well. I hope this is the beginning of understanding grain.

I didn't give the crowd enough credit -

This is still my favorite in the challenge, I'm happy to see it clear up here in the finish, although far from the blue I would have given it as the only judge.

Congrats, and great work!

It looks a little over perfect in my opinion.
Great finish Sher! "What Size" is a great title for it as well.

Very cool idea for this challenge. It looks a little over sharpened or maybe a crop of a larger image. Either way, I like it.

A great texture to the picture, really brings out the used feeling of the shoes. Love it!

ohhhhh

just excellent - that subtle creativity and excellent processing for this kind of shot - love the composition - added grain? Love it too added or not.

I have serious doubts this will be embraced by this crowd - but this is great work on lots of different levels!

I know you were going for the symmetry, but I wonder if it would be stronger if you shot it with the camera tilted so the "boxes" are angled against the edge of the frame - still think this is great 8 for now (8's are further reviewed before end of voting)

nice combination of geometry and portrait. we see the individual in the context of society: assigned a number, put in a box. The graininess makes us feel a little sentimental about the shoes... reminding us of our childhood of hot dogs and bowling. 7

This is different and unexpectedly appealing/ interesting. I like this idea of a study of a tiny well-known detail from every day life. The compartments create a strongly structured composition that's softened by the less regulated shapes and textures of the shoes. Very interesting.

I absolutely love this picture. The graininess works well ~ it helps give that 'used shoe' feeling!!! Great shot!

Like the graininess and color. (Did I spell that right?)

Nice. I love the grain. But too many folks around here hate it no matter what. Hope you don't get too much guff for it. Its perfect here, and I dont think the picture would be nearly as interesting without it.

Great job! 9

awesome idea for the challenge! A little noisy in the shadows and looks like it's overprocessed. Maybe you were going for that look.

I quite like the post work filter applied here. Kinda like coloured grain...? It adds much to the overall look and feel of this image. Well spotted, good work - 10 :)

On the first 15 pictures I see, I'm looking for a full 30 seconds and leaving a comment...very gutsy call on the PP. I like the grain quite a bit here, although you may want to look into monochrome grain which sometimes looks nicer than colored grain. Composition is excellent. Of these 15 pictures, this has the highest at an 8 for now.

The subject matter is not terrible interesting to me but the processing really helps it. I might have cropped a little off the bottom. overall nice photo.

Very cool photograph! I like how you took a subject as boring(and even kind of gross) as bowling shoes and made a very interesting photograph. I also like that this has a bit of a retro feeling to it. Well done!

I love the feel of this except it is just a tad too paintbrushed-feeling for me. But overall I think it is great.
