Photo Promo, hi,

This is Ursula from Site Council. About your original that you sent to validate your third place ribbon in the Single Light challenge, the image you sent as original is not an original, straight from the camera file. It is a modified file.

What we hope you have is the file as it came out of your camera. If you shot RAW, please send the RAW file. If you shot JPEG, then that original JPEG without any savings through software or resizing or anything like that.

If you're having trouble either finding or sending this original image, please let us know what the problem is, and maybe one of us will be able to help.

Please also let us know soon. Thanks,

Ursula

Dear Usrsula,

It is with great regret I see that you disqualified my entry recently. I am currently in New York, away from my computer and the image files. And frankly I wonder why even you need a RAW file to justify the merits of a winning entry? What will you do with my high resolution Raw file?

It simply disgusted me your recent actions.

To bad that I paid a year membership to your site recently to support such an unjust discrimination.

Regards,

Hera

Added Note:

I e-mailed twice the original shot before I left Montreal. Then I got your e- while in New York yesterday. I am not every day on the Internet checking up stuff plus I could never e-mail you till the 19th of June. I am in New York, the shot is located in my Montreal computer.

This recent action shows me that the site has no flexibilty in their rules, and when anyone reponds e-mails you guys send, it bounces back. It tottaly feels a helpess communication style.

To bad. This gives a bad taste as a newcomer to the site.

Thank you Ursula to clarify this matter once in for all.

People who helped this happen, you know who you are all, thank you again.

Hera

This is sad to see you getting disqualified :(
It's truely a remarkable image

Hera,

I can see great things comming from you. This DQ should only be viewed as a minor setback.

I would think the next time you leave behind any submissions in the future, that you have a plan to qualify future requests from SC.

Good luck in the future.

That sucks, the same thing happened to me. AND I SENT MY RAW IMAGE before I left for my vacation. No one got back to me before I left.

BTW I gave your image a 10.

Dear Ursula & Shannon,

Thanks for your help on technical issues.

As the consul requested the RAW file has been sent to the consul at this moment. I simply want to clarify all the commotion. Did this happen before? Did a ribbon got DQ'ed?

I hope that this will clear the matters for once and stop several asumptions and discussions at the forum about my shot, who I might be, and how much I had acess to the internet during my New York trip.

I had not much internet access thoughout the trip. Only on few occasions for a short period of time.

Regards,

Hera

I did not DQ the picture, we did it as SC. I sent you a PM as a courtesy, asking if there was a way we could help you to validate the image - neither I nor SC got an answer. The letter to me that is in your image details was never sent to me or to SC.

The reason we need an original is to verify that the image was made during the times allowed. It's that simple.

Wow! How heartbreaking that this got dq'd!! I am so sorry! This is one of the most beautiful maternity photos I've ever seen!

But I hope you will not be too angry with site council either. There are so, so many members, and there has to be some hard and fast rules. I had one dq'd too while I was on vacation and couldn't get to my computer. It just wasn't as heartbreaking as this because it wouldn't have won a ribbon!

Congratulations anyway on a spectacular photo.

Still one of the best shots ! Please don't be upset with a DQ. My first entry was a DQ! I learned from it.

Sorry you got DQ'd. I still have this as a favorite, so I can look at anytime. When I first saw this, i thought that it was the best way to photograph a pregnant woman. Just a wonderful shot.

In all repect, I'm very very surprised and sad about this DQ.... to me it was and still is the winning picture...

I think that the juges should ask for any info regarding any pictures before being put up on the final score...

Hi

I am Kari from the critique club.

First Impression
I think that this is a lovely and delicate shot, which really does enhance the persons stage of life and pregnancy.

Subject
This meets the challenge and does so well, you can see how the single light source just plays along the shape of this lady.

Composition
This is fantastic .. I don't know how to improve. You have a picture that not only works the thirds lines o nthe vertical where the lady is sitting, but creates a line through behind the model and maintains the interest through the continuation of the netting.

Technicals
My only issue is one that has been bought up in your comments, and that is the area in the left hand courner from the light you used. This may have been caused through having the light source too close to the background ... so just having a slight space there may have helped. I had something similar on one of my shots and playing with the curves and contrast helped this, but I am not sure it would benefit the whole picture.

improving the score
There really wasn't a lot in the scoring but I think you may have scored higher without that area on the left which several people have found distracting. I am not sure what else I can offer.

Final words
I think that this is a fantastic shot .. and shows that you have a superb eye. I am sure there are many fantastic shots to come. Well done.

If you have any comments on the critque feel free to PM me.

Regards

Kari
