Very easy shot to set up. If you would like I have a picture that I took from a distance that shows strobe placement. Basically, I used my Alien Bee 400 with 18 degree HoneyComb insert that was shot through a piece of white velum that I picked up at a craft store. It was fired from behind the subject causing the dramatic lighting effect. As you can tell if you look hard enough, this is not a Mirror image. These are two different glasses the top one filled with punch. The tilt was done with the Tripod to give a "Tilt" feeling. That line running down the picture giving it a Mirror feel is actually a piece of Floral Craft Wire. I can honestly say that this is the first shot that I have done that actaully came out as I expected it. This is a shot for your viewing enjoyment.

I gave this a 10 in that challenge, but just noticed I did not comment on it at the time. My bad... I usually comment on all my 9 and 10 scores. Great shot... very creative. I thought it was a mirror reflection until I read your notes. Very nice lighting... must have been abducted...

It's a shame that it didn't place any higher despite the effort and creativity put into it. Great picture!

quite smart. I will most definitely have to borrow this technique (meaning welcome to my faves list)

Hmmmm. interesting and the bubbles add a lot. Great composition and I really liked the lines and shapes here.

I think that the bubbles detract from the clarity of the image somehow. Also, maybe a glass without a label would have been better. I feel that you're trying to upset us with the titled view. The lighting is good. The concept is interesting. There is a great appeal here. I like this shot. 7

Very creative lighting. I love the space. How did you do it? the bottom glass isn't colored? lol. Good luck Jacko. 9

This is really cool, i love the soft lighting and the colors. The only nitpick i have is the label on the glass, but you can get rid of that with Photoshop. Good job.8

9. I kept bumping the score up on this one as I didn't like it at first glance. It grew on me and I noticed more and more technical merits. I think this will do very well in the challenge and despite the fact that something about it just doesn't appeal to me (perhaps the diagonal sland and unbalanced composition, but I'm not really sure if that's it), I hate to be the one to not acknowlege excellent work. Make a print of this, people will buy it.

the lighting enhances the photo..I like the way the light outlines the rim of the top glass...I think I would have removed the semi transparent label. ..the angles of the glasses and the diagonal add to the the shot nicely.(7)

I thinkt that this is brilliant and perfect.

Just an idea has popped into my mind that I would love you to try and that is to capture more of the reflection and fill the top half and leave the bottom empty as a sort of 'to the brim, but still not satisfactory' idea. =)

Ah! A different version from the pict you entered to Usefilm. This one seems sharper.

Clever. I prefer the glass to be not tilted, though. Or, to have at least the surface of the liquid to be horizontal (parallel to the real ground). Also, there's a sticker on the glass that's a little annoying once you notice it.
