 April 30 is the birthday of the late Queen Juliana and was declared Queensday long time ago, where the whole country would celebrate her birthday. Schools are closed as is any official office building and lots of stores.

People dress up in orange (the Queens family colours), organizing all kinds of fun things for young and old. You can find flee markets in almost every city, town or village.

Queen Beatrix has her birthday at the end of January and as it is winter and very cold, she decided when she became Queen that Queensday should stay at April 30 in honour of her mother.

This year April 30 is on a Sunday and out of respect to those for whom, due to religion, a Sunday is a very quiet day, the government decided to celebrate Queensday on April 29, today.

This photo doesn't really pop out to me in any way. It just seems more like a "snapshot" of a familiar face than something that would be worthy of a front page.
