Well, I am proud of this picture but not sure how well it will appear to meet the challenge. One thing I've been trying to improve on is having my backgrounds be less distracting. I got that here, I feel, but the shot really lacks the context that I think many of the Candid and Candid II entries have shown. But we'll see how it goes.

maybe this is a candid portrait, but there's not enough context to really get my interest.

too direct of lighting -washes details and takes away from the image

I don't usually like comments or give them, but since candids are near and dear to my heart, I have decided to comment on every photo in this challenge.

To me this is more like a self portrait, and the tones aren't very well chosen to me. A b/w conversion would have been much better. I can't really get anything from this photo by way of story or emotion. It's a 3 from me.
