Challenge: Refraction of Light (Basic Editing III)
Collection: Challenges
Camera: Canon EOS-20D

This is a redo of a previous challenge entry which I hope not too many people have seen. But how could I not do this for refraction?

I couldn't make it come out quite like I wanted, though. There's no way to get rid of the blown out spot on the bottom of the glass without the refractions also disappearing. Hopefully I won't get dinged tooo badly for it.

Very cool. Love the effect. The clarity of the shot makes it that much more powerful.

This is really quite beautiful. Love the greens and brown/golds. The glass looks so much like it's being slammed down, almost like it's making a dent. I reallly like the pattern on the glass itself, I bet you could make some beautiful macros with that.

One thing that keeps popping into my mind while looking at this is that it's so centred. The light rays are naturally bigger in front, so maybe if the glass was down at a bit higher up and a bit more to one side, maybe even working the angle a bit so that it looks threatening, I don't know. Something to play around with.

The browns/greens are like hazel eyes.

Pretty good showing too :)

Nice shot capturing refraction through the glass walls. I wondered if you have used a tungsten lamp and the table or background is white, and therefore the lighting has chosen a daylight setting, so that the gold effect is from the tungsten, or is it that the table is golden, but there is a nice contrast in colour going out from the centred glass. I think that darkening the reflected light in the glass centre, from it's sort of light lemon to a darker brigh green would add a touch more of green, but it is a lovely shot nevertheless.

Hope you do well with this

Wonderful light patterns. Slightly less central composition might be even better. Love it, fascinating.

This is a really striking effect of light. I'd be interested in seeing different crops of it but overall I think this is effective.

Wonderful light pattern! Is the light source under the glass or above it?
