 This is the famous Zen Gardens at the Ryoanji temple in Kyoto, Japan. There are 15 rocks in the garden but from any given angle only 14 can be seen and the 15th can only on attainment of enlightenment.

The picture is totally out of focus and light is poor as well - sorry have to give you a 2, 2 because it meets the challenge

i like the rock garden idea, would be nice if this was in focus so that we could see all the textures and patterns made by the rocks.

This shot looks like a snapshot... ie no thought went into this. It's also very blurry. There's nothing interesting to look at here. Also no interesting use of colour, composition, texture, etc. Look on the internet for resources on composing a shot, or ask for advice on the forum.

This photo lacks a focus point, and it is also out of focus.

Sharper focus and brighter lighting might have made this a better shot. I can't really make out the focal points and the third one should be either cropped out entirely or included as a whole.

If the focus were actually sharp anywhere, or the contrast a little more distinct (or both, even), this could be an easy 8 from me, or even higher. Unfortunately, as it is, it makes me feel the need to clean my monitor and push my glasses up as I squint into the frame ... so 5.
