 Over exposure of a sunflower - gave a nice result from the camera- so very little editing. I prefer the rectangular view of it - with more dead space - but I think it makes a high impact square crop.

Changes were
cropped,
some sharpening,
a level change to darken the browns,
and upped the contrast a touch.

I selected this over the 'traditional sunflower against a blue sky shot. I don't think the voters will score it as well but I am interested in the reactions. Likely to be accused of over using special effects to achieve this.

I will pre-empt the probable challenge and send the original in for verification when I get home tonight.

A bit too harsh for my taste. If you had backed off on the post processing, I would have liked it better.

Focus seems to be a hair off. I feel that the center of the flower should be crisper.

Whoa, Rikki! ;-) That's nice and bright but I think the stamens are a little blurry.
