 Just in case someone actually takes the time to read my average finish, the object in question is a light fixture at a local mall. I was dragged there, had my macro Sigma on, and figured I might as well make something useful with the trip, so I looked up (always good idea in photography) and saw this interesting light fixture above my head. The pattern in the glass really reminded me of Jupiter and with the random ball on the edge, I decided to make it look familiar in a astro-precision kind of way.

If I could reshoot, I would get a steeper angle (the light was 15 feet above me so pretty hard to) to get a cool depth of focus with the orbiting ball.

An amazing score for a shot with so few comments! You really had them stumped. I didn't get to vote on this challenge but stumbled on your shot in the astro gallery. Quite nice! I'd like to see a "normal" shot of this light. Kudos to you for finding this opportunity!

Stunning image! I think you got the composition and the contrast just right. Is the object on the right a dome, because it looks like it gets softer the bottom corner.

Oh yes, this is just beautiful. I haven't gotten that far yet in voting, but I think you are going to do well with this one. It's truly abstract (to me at least, I have no idea what I'm looking at). Lots of texture and color, yet I can project something that I recognize into the image. Congrats on a wonderful shot!
