I did this in my living room. I stole a T-shirt from my boyfriend, put it on a huge plastic lid from one of those big tubs. I taped the arms together behind it to get rid of the wrinkles. Then, I taped the flower to the side of a barstool (with electrical tape), and just started snapping. I wrapped a flashlight in a white pillowcase for some not-so-intense light, and held it on the flower. Each image I took, I changed where I pointed the flashlight.
My family thought I was nuts for a few days, because I had flowers taped all over the house, and t-shirts dangling from any surface that would hold electrical tape. The night before, I was in the living room jumping back and forth, turning the lights on and off, trying to take some shots with longer exposure. :)
After challenge comments:
Yeah, the edges are horrible... I learned after submitting that I needed to properly save. Thanks for the comments and the high votes... for my first serious challenge, I am very proud. :)

Very nice picture, Love the details in B&W and the use of space. Not sure of R.Dresser, couldn't quickly find him. Didn't affect your score but if you could send me a link, I'd love to see more. |

Simple image that needs exact lighting, contrast and focus to score high. Your tones are nice but I'm seeing lots of jagged edges on the flower petals. Maybe you over sharpened a little. |

Nice and stark. Love the simplicity of this image. Either the image has been slightly oversharpened or it's a bit of artifacting that I see in the petals. It doesn't matter because it's still nice, simple and beautiful. Maybe as an improvement, you could dodge the stem a bit so that it brings out the highlights? Great job! |

not white enough and lots of artefacts around the blossom (and in top left corner) from improper darkening of the background in PS |
