Taken during a "white out" blizzard through my backyard you can just make out a red barn deep in the woods.

Cropped, ajusted levels, hues, added three thin borders. saved for the web

I tagged it a 5 - might have appreciated some detail in the snow, but that has become not important, considering your intent to include your interpretation of the element of "white out" What I see (to include my read of the title) is a moment of a hasty, familiar glance up during a frequent journey to the red buildings. The strong contrast of the floating ascending dark hardwoods of what I assume was a roadway tree-line against the snow is actually quite good composition. To me the red building though partially obscured by the trees, and probably nearly invisible in the summer, is obvious.

Nothing appears to be in focus here. It could be a great shot, but for this.

Road?? The snow is over exposed. I wonder if a b&w photo would have been better here.

Hard to tell what's going on here. Less brightness and more contrast probably would help enhance the picture but that's just my opinion. I don't know why, but the verticalness combined with the blurriness of the trees in the background has an interesting effect. Nice borders!

Too over exposed. If there is a road there I can't see it.

The whites are way too blown out here...I can't even tell what it's a picture of in the bottom of the shot. Is there a road there? What's almost where? Doesn't make sense to me...

Horribly out of focus. I don't see the relevance to Road. 1
