Taken at Great Adventure Wild Safari 10/1/2005. Yes, the water was really that green and the bear was really eating it! I did edit out a weed by the bear's backside with the clone tool. I know I'm not very good at it so it will probably show. My photoshop skills are very weak.

Hi Kelly,

Greetings from the Critique Club and congratulation on your highest scoring picture!

My standard text :)
-------------------
I'm by no means expert in area of photography. My comments are purely based on my limited understanding of technology and art behind digital photography. Apart from doing detailed evaluation of your submission, my intent is to learn different styles of photography by critically evaluating selective submissions. I hope following comments of mine are helpful to you.

Composition :
-------------

Good composition and captured at right moment. You were at right place at right time.

Camera Work :
---------------

Camera work is good. Image seems to be properly exposed. But the focus on bear seems to be little soft.

Post-processing :
-----------------

Okay ...now this needed some serious work on contrast. The image seems to be little flat. Looking at difference between shades of foreground subject and almost even background, proper use of "curves" would have done wonders. Some sharpening might also have helped.

Summary :
----------

Overall an above-average composition. I did not voted for this challenge but I would have also given something between 5-6 which is in line with average score. If this image is properly processed it can really be great "wildlife" picture.

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via email, PM or IM (1530GMT-2330GMT)

Wish you a great day!

eeww. That's a lot of algae. That looks like quite a large bear too. Focus is soft and the ligthing isn't the greatest, which hurt this photo.

I hope my monitor is correct. The water is extremely too green. Colors do not looke right to me. I like the capture however.

nice title. the timing on this photo is great - the bear's expression is intriguing and contemplative. it looks like the lighting was very harsh, which has the unfortunate effect of making the picture look rather flat. even so, I appreciate the artistic integrity of not dressing it up in overstated Photoshop effects.

awww - I love bears....actually I love most animals. This is a sweet shot capturing a natural moment in the bear's life. I love the way he/she is looking at the green stuff as if to say "I gotta eat this?" I am very partial to emotive shots - this one included

great shot, composition is good, colors are good, but I find the bear a bit dark, can't see the details in his back..

The lighting here seems a little harsh and the angle is also a little bit off.. probably out of your control... an interesting capture for sure
