 Part of the crowd watching the Phildelphia Mummers New Years Day Parade. She and her husband and two very young children stood next to me long enought for me to take this single shot of her. I was struck by the naturalness of her face...beautiful and motherly...And the pink hat and scarf against the natural colors of her coat and faux fur collar brighten her up a bit, I think. I called her little because she came up to about my chest, and I am not tall...her husband to my shoulder...that's his dark jacket that provides a very nice, uncumbered background for his wife.

Post: Open, Rotate, Crop. Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue/saturation. USM. Resize. USM.

Looks a little cool (in tone, not temperature). I like color portraits to be warm. Makes the person look more alive.

The composition needs a little work. The choice of subject matter is ok. The image quality is ok. Could have been a little more creative. - 4

Nice portrait... I think the missing thing is that the there is nothing in the image itself that expresses being a mother.

I'm sorry, without the title I really don't get the sense of "Mother" from this portrait. She looks very nice but what is going on to indicate motherliness? The photo should say it without the title, IMO.
