Challenge: Knife Fork Spoon (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Nikon Coolpix 8700
Location: Tucson, AZ
Date: Dec 3, 2005
Aperture: F3.1
ISO: 50
Shutter: 4 sec

Date Uploaded: Dec 3, 2005

Shot on top of mirror with black canvas type material for a tent next to window. The colors were purely accidental but I thought it really added to the picture. The red is from my shirt and the gold tones from the frame of the mirror. The utensils are actually silver.

Used PSE for fill flash, brightness, contrast. MDIPro for crop, auto color fix, Blend brush. Neat image applied, resized, sharpened and saved for web.

** Greetings from the Critique Club **

I like the background, yet the angle the image is displayed makes it difficult to look at for very long. Almost as it confuses the mind somehow. The colors reflecting on the silverware are nice. I would have liked to see the focus improved. Cool idea overall - just needs a little more technical work.

Probably the biggest thing that hurt this was the DOF. Why do we want the knife in focus while having the fork and spoon OOF? It's looks accidental and doesn't seem to serve a purpose. If your subject is going to be OOF, it should be so for a reason.

I do like the colors of the silverware. The background is a nice abstract, but again, I'm not quite sure of the "why" to it. Pictures don't always need a "why", but it helps if there seems to be a unifying idea.

I gave it a 6.

I don't know how you made this background, but I really like the outcome and esp the reflections. Good work!

Very cool. The running rain looks awesome in this shot. I also like the coloring of your knife, fork and spoon.

background is a little distracting...it takes away from the "main subject"....good idea though

Is this photo upside-down? It's somewhat weird.
