| I like this. I like the DOF, I like the tilt, I like the darkness. I like the bent tine. About the only thing I don't like is the item just behind and to the right of the pot--it is a little distracting. I didn't vote on this challenge, so I can't really say what I would have voted it in that context, but certainly on its own it's a nice shot. |

I liked this one Laurie. I gave it a 6 and that was fairly good for this challenge. I'm sure you are astute enough to know the technicals are good. Nice DOF, nice sharp focus, nice conversion to B&W. Here's my take on why it did poorly. Just a guess though...
1) Too much of a non sequitur. While it's a cute and creative idea, it doesn't seem to have any sort of reference to base it in. It isn't a play on words (as far as I can decipher) like "Fork in the Road" and we don't "home grow" silverware even in any other sense of the phrase. People may have just scratched their head a bit and moved on. This is really the only thing I can come up with.
2) Was this black plastic silverware? I'm not sure about the blackness. I go back and forth. At one time I wish it was a more traditional reflection of metal, but at other times I like it the way it is. I'd have to see it with silver and judge from that.
Hope that helps a bit. I'm scratching a bit on the 5.1 myself... |

Out of order...and crooked...way too dark, soil is too dry, have you no water ? Their only leaf seems to have fallen off. Why didn't you glue some on? What looks like a worm to the left of the pot is terribly out of focus. That worm can not live without moist soil. Absolutely no dirt can be seen inside the pot, maybe thats why the "plants" are so dark , no dirt, no water. Well, I had not considered they may be African. Why only African? Do you have something against, say, an Englishman, or Chineese? Did you wash those utensels when you were thru? What if an infected bird flew over and pooped in your pot and you got the Bird Virus? Here's an idea. How about moving the pot back, say thirty feet and re- shooting it. That would likley hide most of your flaws. Does your mother know you have these? Do you ever wonder why she lets you play with knives? I think I know why. If you had put some wrapping paper around that old pot it would have looked better. Did you use all your paper on presents? You should have called, I have plenty to share. Why black-n-white? Don't you know people like colors at Christmas? THERE, I've said it CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS ..........politically incorrect, but, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
