Hi from the Critique Club!

This is a deceptive image. My initial reaction was 'yuk! On closer and longer inspection though this is an excellent study.

This is one of the few naturalistic images in the challenge - ie this is exactly where you would expect to find a spoon. It's authentic, gritty and real. It reminds me a little of Joseph Sudek's work.

I love the composition: there is a wonderful series of overlapping circles, creating really appealing curves. The spoon creates a really nice, linear opposition to these circles.

There is beautiful detail on the sink itself; the scratches, the lettering, the relief work on the spoon and of course that liquid. Yes initially, you think 'yuk', but it is real and gives added interest. And if you look at it long enough it begins to look like the moon:)

I love the lighting, it's moody and dramatic and makes an everyday sight more photographic. It also gives nice highlights on the bowl.

The milky white and cream colours in the water contrast well against the black and white of the rest of the image.

Overall, a really great study of an everyday object.

I am so surprised at how poorly this entry did given that it was one of my very favourites. I gave it a 9, and I'm sorry I didn't have time to comment on it during the voting period.

It's a lovely study of an everyday chore (the dreaded washing up) made into art. I think you've achieved a lovely composition with the spoon handle positioned just so and some great framing using the shadow of the sides of the sink. I really like the black and white high contrast presentation. I like the grittiness of the textures.

I am sorry this didn't score higher and I hope you appreciate that, for a number of us, this is a wonderful image.

A bit grungy, not there is anything wrong with that.

Interesting composition.....while I find the stuff floating IN the bowl kinda yucky, I have to admit that there's something about this photo that draws me in. The lighting looks really neat!

actually really excellent. love the light and the compositiong and clarity and everything, i just don't know if i'm interested in seeing the muck in the bowl. that's of course just my opinion. it's really creative and well done!

reminds me of Art Roflmao's "accidental letters" entry - compositionally speaking - this is less appetizing, however
good picture, I like the harsh lighting.
maybe a little too much space at the top, possibly could have been cropped a bit on the left. looks slightly imbalanced.

great contrast! I think I'd like your photo more without the dirty water inside the bowl

The bowl gets lost in the darkness on the left.
