Looking directly into a clear water brook with the camera and macro lens..morning sun. I liked the effect of the ripples and leaves under and on top of the water...cropped, levels, curves, cloned out a couple of stem parts of the floating leaves, got rid of a few hot spots, too, unsharp mask and sharpen edges.

Glorious! It is extremely difficult to capture the beautiful, rippling patterns that running water makes... Excelllent work!

I actually like those needles in the picture. It gives it some variation besides the color differences. It is clear and quite detailed. Something about leaves draws me to a shot every time. Maybe not OVERLY interesting, but a good effort nonetheless.

Greetings from the Critique Club.

First, please notice the time on this, so if there are typos that I miss, please forgive me, my son is up sick so I'm killing time until he goes back to sleep.

This is a wonderful overall image. The colors, the light, the way it plays on the s leaves. I can see the swirl of water towards the bottom middle and it really catches my eye. The air bubbles on the leaves are just another great detail in the shot.

So why didn't it do better? I looked at the overall score and while nothing to be ashamed of, I quite frankly feel you were robbed! :)

My best guess is, and it is just that, a guess, that while the title tells us what the transparency is, it's not overly visable in the shot itself. I can see the effect of the water and I can see the bubbles of the trapped air but the water is so crystal clear one almost thinks it might be more a filter on the shot than water itself. Also, the needle in the upper right corner ends up being a bit of a distraction, I keep finding my eyes drawn to it for some reason, not quite sure why but it does. I like the three colors, dark to light to red, nice division of the shot in that manner.

I wish I could offer you more on this as far as in depth but I love this shot and had I voted in this challenge would have given it an 8 easily.

Hope these comments help, good luck in future challenges.

thank you for taking the time to comment and vote on my image...what interested me in this picture was the water reflecting and swirling, plus the repetition of leaf pattern in different colors.

one of my favoirtes this challenge -- abstract quality is wonderful, good eye for color and composition -- this type of image is not easy to pull off and you have done it.

It would come more alive with brightness +20, contrast +25 and some saturation tweaking.

the lack of a clear focal point hurts this image - not being so close in may help with that. a full leaf in frame could act as the focal point.
nice colors.

good luck.

This is by far the nicest of the leaves in water/ice images I have seen the in this challenge.

I like the colours and the playing of the light on the leaves through the water. The only slight nagging thing I find is the patch of brightness on the leaf in the top right.

Well I must say, of all the leaf photos I've seen in this challenge, this is my favorite of the lot. I like the water and light reflections. Nice colors and composition too. 8
