I had your shot pegged as a top 10. Shame it didn't do better. |

Nice focus-work!
I love the way you've caught the different textures of the wax at different stages of melted. |

Good composition - the candle holder is a bit cracked or dirty and the wax is far from perfect. This would have looked better with a really clean/new candle and a bit of color. |

I lvoe the clarity of the image, and the way the light plays off the different surfaces. Background is subtle enough to not detract from the subject. Nice! |

Definately one of the best candle shots I've seen! Nicely done. |

I like the waz & flame, but the glass container takes my eye away fron the subject. |

Interesting. My first thought was that the background is the sky. But then how do you shot down onto a candle and still have sky in the background? If I was to nit-pick, the edge of the candle holder is king of messy. |

Hmm... I think too bright of lighting for your subject. I know that just the candlelight might not have sufficed to capture the melting, but I think you could have toned it down somewhat -- I'm kind of surprised the flame is still so visible, in fact, so I'm wondering a bit how you did up the lighting. |

The lighting, whether purely from the flame or added from external sources, does well to make this shot work. |

I really like the lighting and the colors (or lack there of) in here. Nice placement of your subject. Also, the bubbling wax makes for nice effect and reflection. The blue background fading to white is nice and dreamy. Very nice take on the challenge. One of my favorites for this challenge and I hope you get a ribbon. 10 |
