Greetings form the critique club.
Here we have a basic example of what lighting could have provided to help create a mood in the shot. Creating a specific mood would have helped create feeling and might have added some warmth to the shot. Unfortunately, as it is, the shot is rather plain and doesn't convey much, except its basic purpose of showing two hands playing on a piano. The composition is nice and the crop is good. The use of a shallow depth of field is very well chosen in this case, adding emphasis on the hands and the piano keys. It might have been slightly better to have a bit more depth of fiels though, as we feal limited to look at one hand only. But that's no problem.
My personal rating of the shot: 5. Meets the challenge. Technicaly well done. Unfortunately average shot.
Keep up the good work! |

Piano sound is one of my favorites. Here I like the highlight on the lot of the black keys contrasting with the shadow of their sides. The fingers playing are good with the theme - howver I think the blurry hand inthe background distracts from the forground one and we canm;t see that it is playing at all. I'd have a bettwer view of both hands or just the one hand. The white space on the left and the blurred part of the piano on the left also pull the eye away from the subject. You could crop in closer, or recompose the subject by photgraphing over the player's shoulder and have the keyboard and hands fill the frame. |

I wish the first hand was a little more in focus. |

Interesting I got two piano pictures in a row. Yes, it definitely hits the topic. I'm not sure the straight-on side view is the best, but it's not bad, either. A bit more focus on the keys and less on the fingers maybe? |
