This is such a good photo. I love the way that sweeping curve leads your eye up to that bold, dark image of the man. Incredible.
And I was lead to your portfolio after your post to that thread about tilted horizons. The horizon you have here is great. Not tilted - curved! In the context of the colouring and subject, the curved horizon almost makes it look like it's on a small asteroid or alien planet. Really eye-catching. |

Greetings from the Critique Club
This is a stunning image, and I wouldn't change a thing. You scored well and deservedly so. It looks as if the many comments you have already received review just about anything that might need to be said about this fine image.
So, now that I have looked at it, and enjoyed it, I'll just move on to the next Critique on the list. |

I really like this shot. I'd have bumbed it from 7 to 8 or 9 if it weren't for the PP haloing on the figure. I'll admit it had crossed my mind that this was the work of a certain icelander :-) |

Very beautiful! The colors are wonderful as well as the reflection. The composition is very nice, although I may have cropped just a tad more off the bottom if I were to change anything. But that's just personal taste. Overall, an outstanding photo for the challenge. I'm wondering what the tribute is. :-) |

Good contrast. I like the photo. Gives me a sense of lonliness or sadness or he simply dropped something in the water and is hoping to find it. :-) |

Great use of leading lines. The colour tones are cool - and surreal. The man and his reflection are the dot on the "i". 10. Going to favs. |

Fit Challenge Criteria: 2/2
Contrast/Color: 2/2
Composition: 2/2
Photo Quality: 1/2
My Subjective Affinity: 1/2
The focus is a little soft in the foreground. Some more detail would have been really nice to have there. |

Those colors are too cool....and the shadowy figure in the background really gives it some depth. Nice Job. |

The gradation in the sky on top suffers a bit from 8-bit jpeg but all other aspects (especially the composition) of the photograph are pretty good. The colors don't have such a strong impact on me, they are a bit blah. The person has a oversharpening halo. 7 |

reminiscent in some ways of heida's "dark land"
oversharpening on the figure really detracts from this image--this problem is easily avoidable by duplicating the layer to be sharpened, and then masking off/erasing the figure. |

I like the person in the picture, but am also wondering how it would look without... overaal, great colours and contrast. Only thing bugging me is the sky: it looks manipulated and doesn't match the reflection in the water. Composition is great. |

Back to comment. I hope that this wins as it is absolutely beautiful. Instead of raising your ego with what I liked about it (which was basically editing) the aspects of it that I feel detract are the following: 1. The halo around the man standing is distracting and is the only major flaw. 2. I think that the other piece of rock/mineral on the water to the left of the man's reflection is not necessary and is just visually incongruent with the rest of the composition.
Mind you, these are only small nitpicks that I saw to give a sort of "constructive critique". Best of luck to you --- 10. |

Excellent contrast and excellent curved composition - model makes a great focal point. Not sure about the strange colours but certainly interesting. Model has a strange pale halo all around him - is it from sharpening? |
