Hi great idea and very creative. The left side of the shot is a bit too dark and over powering. The building in the background is a bit distracting. The composition is great as is the focus and DOF. Other than that is was a very nice attempt. I would go back and tryi this shot again. Maybe a different time of day would help. |

I am very pleased with the performance of my first challenge. I agree with the comments that the rear part of the horse was to dark. I blurred the background in Photoshop. In reality the sculpture is about 5-10 feet from the building and there was no angle where it didnt appear in the shot. I felt that it was to distracting so I made the creative choice to blur it and keep the focus on the man and the horse. But I should have waited for better light, lesson learned :)
I drive by this on the way home from work every day and I knew it would be a good subject for the challenge. I even had a picture of the way I wanted it to look in my head. In the end, other than what was already mentioned, it came out exactly as I had imagined it. Which is what photography is all about! So I am very pleased. Thanks all. |

Love the lighting and subject. Great contrasts. I don't care for the building and gutter in the background though - I'm sure it's just me, but I probably would have blurred them out. Still solid entry. |

The background fails to enhance this otherwise strong image. |

For me, the gray ranges in the background are very similar as on the sculpture. I do like the black shadows - you captured those well. |

The very large black area on the left seems too heavy for the photo. I think more midtones in the dark areas may have given it a bit more detail. The most attractive part of the photo seems to be the head and lit side of the statue. I would have liked to see more conrast along those lines. |

This has the feel and dof of an old 4x5 Graflex Camera. I love it! |
