Thanks for all the great comments. The reason I left the edges in view was that I felt that it wasn't obvious enough that it was a photo without it (you might laugh but looks like at least one person didn't realise that, even -with- the edges there). Totally true about the color and lighting, the light was fading fast and it was my last chance (indoors is a joke). My little sony was already having a fit trying to get a decent focus at all.
I wanted it to be on paper rather than on grass, to emphasise the 'paper' aspect of both the photo and the shoe. the grass you can't run on, the paper shoe you can't wear (its SO delicate, its quite hard not to squash it!)

For anyone who wants to make that shoe, its from the best ever origami book by Steve and Megumi Biddle "Step-by-Step Origami". I used the very thin Japanese calligraphy paper.

Maybe making the sheets of 'grass' seemlessly overlap each other

Really like the idea! Great work!

What a neat paper shoe. It is so cool. I am not sure how I feel about it sitting in the grass with the flowers. Yes I do, I like it. It adds intrest along with the edge of your yard looking down into another yard. Very refreshing image.

what a lovely idea! so sweet :-)
I wish the grass under it was real though. Could have add so much more interest to the shot! 7

Clever idea, well executed and nice sharp clear imagery. I wonder if it would have more wow factor had you used the other daisy poster to cover the edge of the main one. It just looks a little sloppy - which is a shame - 7

very creative. Nice work and good execution. I think the color may be a bit off - I seem to see some color cast to the white paper. Maybe a quick levels adjustment would take care of it?

VERY cute. Original idea too (I haven't seen any pictures with paper shoes on a field of daisies in a book) The focus on the shoe is good, and the collors are great. And this picture has a little depth to me. Great job.

I guess that counts as a shoe. What is it on. It looks like its smashing the flowers. Could have been more in focus.

there is just something about this one.. makes it very... "post-card-ish". It has a very cool quality about ti for me.
