Greetings from the Critique Club:
Congratulations on getting through your first Challenge.
Composition: Your subject is the red boot(s). I think while you tried to set a scene that would include the boots, your scene isso full of other items it makes it difficult to find that main focal point. Even though each of the items is interesting in its own way, (or perhaps because they are each interesting) the boots get lost and the viewer loses interest. As an experiment, you might remove one or two items at a time, photograph the result, until you find a pleasing composition that sends your eye straight to the red boots. You might also consider a black backdrop to isolate the boots or your new more spare composition. I say all this because you have an interesting idea here and it's well worth pursuing.
Then, ISO 400 is a very fast number to use in bright daylight. The image is a bit 'hot'. Try 100 (if your camera will take it) and work up. And try f5.6 or 6.3 along with the 100 or 200ISO. Finally, you might try bracketing your images and note the results.
It's good to see you experiment with a themed set-up, Looks as if you're going to have fun at this game. Welcome aboard. |

Scene is rather cluttered. Need to draw more attention to your subject, maybe move in close and remove a few unnessary items. |

lots of visual noise here - the background being in focus takes attention away from the subject, and the weeds/hay the boots are resting on gives my eye all kinds of lines to explore taking my eye away from your subject. I would recommend cropping right down to the boots, and holding a sheet in front of the sun to soften the light and shadows. Hope that helps. 3 |

Very cluttered and no real focus point. I really have to concerntrae to see the 2 boots. What is that distracting white thing down the middle? |

Its almost impossible to get a good photo in bright direct sunlight. A little bit more subdued lighting, a perspective other than head on and some depth of field all could have helped the cool elements you have assembled here to be a more high scoring and intertesting photo. |

I would like this beter without the rope going through the boot, and if I couldn't see the plants through the fence. |

Too much clutter in this one.If it were only the boots in the woodbench, I think it would have worked better. |

Very contrived, and far too busy making the boots lose their battle for dominance as the main subjects entirely |

There are really alot of western ideas with the shoe contest. But I like the setting and how there are items around it. |

There is a great setup as well as a great idea behind this shot, the only thing that's really annoying it the really harsh lighting which could have semi-fixed with curves or waited for a later hour. |
