This image is based on a brain teaser using one piece of paper with 3 cuts. There are no seams.

Thanks for asking about the settings. You were right about closing up the lens to get a strong depth of field. I wanted the entire sheet VERY crisp. I also wanted to play with the lighting and create shadows from different angles. I created a dark room with a black background. Then, I took my flash off camera, and moved it around during the shot, firing the flash from different angles. This shot ended up with 2 firings. I also tried some with 3 firings. It took the long exposure to allow me to move that flash around and hit the silly fire button. Obviously, the camera was on a tripod and since the room was dark, there were only 2 short periods when the shot was actually lit.

PP includes crop, levels (slight) and clone to remove dust particles. USM, image resize and framing complete the image.

Wow! I'm surprised to see the camera settings you used. 6 seconds at ISO 640! Understandable with the aperture closed up. Was your goal to keep the depth of field greater? Or was it to control the lighting under difficult conditions?

This is awesome in it's simplicity! I love it. I had to look at it a couple of minutes to figure out how ya did it! Great lighting. The only thing I would change and it's subtle is to maybe use levels to even out the white board a tad...
Kudos

A great setup. The lighting is excellent, the texture of the material is well-captured and the lines leading diagonally through the frame make for a strong image.

I like the illusion it meets the challenge spot on.
As a photograph you make me think how was this done but after that the appeal is not as strong. Dont get me wrong is a good photograph, but is missing that wow factor needed to get a ribon,

Clever! Angle to object and clever crop makes this composition very strong. Great abstract as well as fitting illusion challenge.

Nice set up of the illusion. Good placement in the photograph and proper lighting. My only complaint...would have been nice not to have the pencil marks on the edge at the top and perhaps a cleaner joint. Both fixable in PS. 8
