Placed a very thin gauze over the lense to difuse the light and give a soft focus. Figured it worked in the movies so gave it a try.

Its Blurry!! I bet you haven't heard that yet... It seems to have a hot spot or two otherwise a great shot.

seems over exposed

You got all the colors here and it looks very dreamy. There is a kind of halo around the yellow flowers as if they are glowing.

I like the flowers you have used and the attempt you have made in adjusting the colours, unfortunately it has been let down a bit by the "halos" created around the flowers on the left. I am assuming that this is largely due to the compression you have put on saving this file - you have only used 30KB of your 150KB that you could have used. Try redoing this picture, however use less compression when saving and see if the halo effect re-occurs.

I'm so torn over this shot. Half of me says "look at how well someone used soft focus, added a blur and composed a beautiful shot. The other half of me says the yellows are blown out, the ones underneath look crushed and this shot could have been done so much better. I'm torn!

focus seems soft and lighting is okay, but a little too dark (or at least unevenly applied) for my taste.

The focus is so soft as to be blurry, making it look like glowing fog has been smeared over the image (or vaseline on the lens). I could add a point or two if it didn't make me need to adjust my glasses.
