This is going to get slaughtered. Wish I could claim "out of the box," on this one, but the truth is, it was a set up for the actual shot htat I wanted, but never actually took. Shooting with a 3 yo is like that.

But I liked it. Whether or not i like it on Monday morning is another story.

Curves, desaturation (which left a weird halo around the little boy), cloned out a hangnail and the weird halo, and softened the cloning of the halo.

Title adds a lot of ambiguity to the photo. I like the strong diagonals in the composition.

There may be a great deal more in the title than the photo would indicate... is this a Doctor Laura moment?

The only gripe I have are the patches of red on the childs shoulder, which look a blown out

Sheesh, what an depressing image you put up here, very symbolic. I would never hang around with my wife just because of my kids if I didn´t love her, I don´t think I would be doing anybody any favours if that were the case.

Anyway, this image works as it stopped me in my tracks and bummed me out and made me think of all the people that are not as fortunate as me, I now want to go home from work and hug my wife very badly.

I gave you a pretty high score, 8 as the image itself isn´t perfect technically but you made me feel something wich I don´t often when looking at photographs here.

i dont think it clever to reveal what should be the impact of the image by putting it into the title
kind of ruins the whole story and image
too bad

Great idea for a family photograph -- and composed very well. I don't know if the title is for real -- but if it is -- Please do. . . he is so worth it! :)

A good picture, which conveys lots of emotion. And made even more poignant by the title. Good job 8

Sweet image. I like the child being OOF in the BG. Nicely composed and captured.

Wow! Nice emotive feel here. Makes me wonder if the point is that he is the only reason you 2 are still together or that you work on keeping it together because of him?

Being a child of divorced parents, I can safely say that your title is going to cause a little bit of uproar with certain people. Doing just that can often harm the children of a failing marriage more than accepting that it won't work... but then, sometimes not giving in and really working at it can benefit in the end too. I certainly hope the latter applies here. A touching shot, slightly over-exposed, but rare on this sheepdom we call DPC. Refreshing.

your title, and photo say the sad truth about many marriages today - only in place for the sake of the child instead of being in place from devotion to one another.
I like the DOF. The skin tone on the hands looks a little washed out

Meaningful picture. Just a tad bright on the hands. Otherwise technically well done.

Familys should not stick together for the sake of a child, they should stick together because they love each other and are willing to be there during good times and bad. BUT, my feelings have nothing to do with your picture. I will keep them so myself-couldn't help it-had to type that-sorry. Nice detail in the hands, I wish that either there was no fingernail polish or something with some color. The flesh-tone doesn't flatter your photo. I am going to ignore your title and give you a 6.

Ummm.. I like the idea, but it seems too contrived, given the title and all. I think I'd like it better in black and white - maybe a tad more contrast of that might evoke more of the mood you are looking for.

This is poignant. I suspect very strongly the fingernails are telling us a story. Feel free to confirm (or refute) this by pm, I'm interested.
