 A power plant with steam from the cooling processes blowing up and around it..taken at dusk just a few minutes after the lights came on..I thought it was a cool picture with all the steam around; there was a misty feeling; also, the darkness does require light in many instances: so here is a power plant producing light; it is beautiful with its own lights in the darkness. The image was cropped at top and bottom; unsharp mask was used. I used curves for a deeper color and darkness adjustment; a little use of increased brightness and contrast, too.

Thanks for all the comments. I know a lot of people didn't like the steam, but I felt it gave it some mood and strengthened the photo..thanks for all the positive votes; I tried hard on this pic.

Great photo. The fog/clouds covering part of the image really does a lot to create the feeling of darkness/mystery. I don't know what this structure is, but it was a perfect choice for this. 9.

I feel there is just too much getting blurred out by the clouds here.

This brought to mind Blake's poem that speaks of dark Satanic mills. I like the shroud of haze around the lights and obscuring the the top of the chimneys. The image is effective and fits the challenge well.

Too much smoke. Maybe the same factory in the middle of the night, without the smoke.

bump up the gamma to show a little more details. a 7, but could have been higher if i get to see more details of the subject.
