| CC: great, simply great. You've isolated the subject really well - enough to tell that it is a succulent / cactus and yet removed any wasted areas around the shot. The spikes are sharp and in focus - which compliments their sharp nature well - a shallow DoF wouldn't work with this at all. The flower details are great, and you've captured it with good flat lighting. |

| Thanks for the comments. I just wanted to mention that this was a photo that I took on vacation in Las Vegas that week. It was not specifically taken for the contest. Lucky for me(I didn't have internet use out there) it so happened that the contests of that week fit in perfectly with the pictures I had taken(flora and fauna). I think I had others that might have done better, but I took so many photos(1000+)that I didn't have the time to go through all of them. |

| I really like this. Particularly due to the vivid fuchsia-pink of the flowers and the muted colors of everything else. To me, it seems though that the focus is on the cactus right beyond the front flower rather than on the center of the front flower and 'my eye has a bit of a problem accepting that'. 8 Journey |
