Shooting birds is not my forté and capturing them has daunted me. I have never gotten one half as good as this. I like the detail of the neck and the crown. THe detail is a bit lost under the beak and I think the subject to high up in the frame. Love that brilliant blue eye.

It's curious that the white on the right (the bird's left side) is pretty much "blown" (i.e. no detail left in the white area) and yet the light source is apparently on the left (the bird's right) as can be seen in the shadow along the neck. So how did the white get blown?

Regardless... this is an amazing shot! I love the angle and the detail in all other areas except the white spot. The shallow DOF is a nice addition. And I love that you got the eye in perfect focus... that's a killer. Very nicely done!
