 This one didn't work out quite like I planned, but close enough. The dog is a separate shot (obviously), but printed out on huge strips of plotter paper and taped to the outside of the window- so the scene did actually look like this! Since it's Mother's Day, I had a visiting model to shoot (yep, the alarmed reader is Mom).

Lighting this arrangement was NOT fun. The dog was backlit by an overcast sun and much brighter than the inside room. I used a 100w full spectrum light bulb on the left side to keep the color balance similar, and a sheet of metallic gold posterboard on the right for some fill light. I bracketed my shots to get a not-too-overexposed dog and not-too-underexposed model.

I used a whole lotta' Levels and Dodging and Burning to get this where I wanted it. I cloned out some spots on the wall and dog, adjusted saturation and hues and touched up some minor rough edges and tape on the dog. I used a slight distortion to get the "horizon" level.

Very creative! Another amazing work of creative energy and talent. I can't believe you made such huge printouts when you could have simply shrunk your mother down. And tell your mother she looks young enough to be your sister.

FWIW, the voting on this shot was really weird. It was pegged at 4.8 after the first few votes, climbed to 5.5 the next day, and almost reached 5.75 at 100 votes. I rarely see any major change after 100 votes, but this one kept slowly rising. You just never know...

I honestly think you give us a lot of really cool suggestions to realize these kind of special fx... but I really don't believe you are using those methods for your shots, they are to expensive for such contests!!!

This is good -- and funny -- but suffers some from a lack of crispness on your heroine (or is she the victim?). Terrific idea nonetheless -- good luck!

WOW! That's incredible. Can't wait to see how you did this. Are they posters? Rear-projection with an LCD projector? It looks too luminous to simply be prints attached to the wall, so I'm betting there is some kind of projection going on.

This is adorable!! I'm not sure how you did it... I"m guessing that everything but the dog is a photograph? But it is very well done, and extremely cute. Only thing I might mention is the reflection in the glass near the center of the photo is a bit distracting... otherwise I like it. Nicely done.

This photograph is clearly a combination of multiple images. Although it is a nice piece of digital artwork, there is no way this way taken in accordance to competion rules as follows: Your entry must come from a single photograph, taken during the specified challenge timeframe. You may not post-process your entry from or to include elements of multiple images, multiple exposures, clip art, computer-rendered images, or elements from other photographs (even those taken during the challenge week), and other similar items
Because of that, I have submitted a request that this entry be disqualified.

Oh my, this is hysterical!!! This is something that the ingeniously creative Scalvert would come up with, although I'm probably wrong. I wonder how big that print is to cover the windows? Excellent for the challenge, and perfect title. This deserves a 10!

This would have been perfect if the dog appeared to be looking at the lady instead of the sky. I still haven't figured out how this was done legally.

Great idea. Did you take photo of dog throught strips cut out from photo? Trying to work it out. Only criticism is DoF on dog is very different to that of the foreground, making it obviously a composition of two elements.
