I really like the multiple levels of meaning in this photo. Unfortunately, one of your's was somewhat obscured by my own color-blindness (ophthamological), and so I didn't make as strong a connection with the speech. Yet another time I would have liked to read your notes before voting...great job. |

Greetings from the Critique Club :)
Hi Floyd...
I understood your intent when I first saw this photo. I scored it very high as well. The title along with the image made me think of Dr. King immediately. Your message with this photo was well thought out and executed very nicely in this image. The black and white created by the shadows on the surface of this image make it even stronger.
I think it's unfortunate that this photo didn't score higher. I suppose that the inability of some to grasp the thought and feeling here probably hindered the score more than anything.
This is a great visualization and execution of your idea...
Keep up the great work :)
John Setzler

Thanks to everyone that voted on this shot including those of you that didn't decode what I was trying to capture - it's useful to me to know that my meaning wasn't as clear as I'd hoped.
For the record this picture is about racial equality which is why we have a patch of light and dark. It wasn't intentional but I like how that line is blurred too. The coloured letters spell out blind which is supposed to suggest colour blindness (in a racial sense) and the fact that it's in children's letters is meant to suggest the basic simplicity of the equality ideal. Frisca spotted another twist to this shot that I'd not intended - the long shadows imply a dawning light as if the light is dawning on the idea.
Finally the title is a refrain from Dr Martin Luther King Jr's famous "I have a dream" speach which deals with racial equality.
Thanks everyone for your comments and votes. |

Great. Clever. Gorgeous composition.
Albeit, the potential impact of this shot is limited by the idea itself (or the challenge topic).

I like this concept. Color Blind? I like the shadows on the letters but I'd get rid of the shadow on the upper left. Good luck. |

what perfect social commentary in a picture. Looks like the 'light' is finally dawning in the picture. :) |

Colorful! The focus is good. I am not sure if the shadow on the left is distracting or not. I think it is, maybe it would have been better to either have it running parallel to the angle of "blind" or crop it out all together. |

I like the idea you've come up with for this but I haven't got a clue what the title's all about - nevertheless a 7 for some originality and a nice shot. |
