 This tree sits in a field right next to the major highway leading away from the city where I live. Everytime we passed by it, I kept telling my wife that I should stop and take its picture. So I did. I really like the patches of residual snow found here and there over the landscape.

Quite a bit of editing to meet "zone system" for the Ansel Adams challenge. No cloning done at all, since I don't think it,s something that Mr. Adams would have done. Mostly played with levels, curves, color balance and an overlay layer for a ton of burning and dodging.

Image taken with Canon EF 18-55mm @ 18mm with circular polarizing filter.

Hoping for a 6.2+ score. 6.5+ would be awesome.

I think that the contrast in the sky is great. Unfortunately, the ground does not seem to have the same degree of contrast, so I find that the two elements sit a little uneasily together.

The halo that the cloud makes around the top of the tree is very interesting. I like this picture because of its simplicity. It does look very 3Dish and not flat - 6

I find the sky and the clouds a litle strange but other parts of the image are very good. The ground is great and nice editing and the position of the tree is very good (good composition).
