I couldn't resist doing a semi-abstract for this challenge. I know it will do badly, but I like the feel of it, and I'll take any chance to use my knives in photos.

In case you can't tell what it is, it's a close up detail shot of a knife blade with stained glass (a very small stained glass lamp I have) in the background.

Editing: Resized, some spot editing to brighten a shadow, sharpened, border.

About the quote:

"A mind all logic is like a knife all blade. It makes the hand bleed that uses it."

I love your title. Is that a quote from somewhere or did you make it up? I didn't vote on this challenge but I would have given this high marks. I like the strong colors and composition.

and you are appealing to my artistic side here (as opposed to my logical side...)?

this is an interesting composition, if a bit busy in the background. not really getting a feel for the relationship between your bokeh and the subject. as for the subject, without the title, i would have no clue as to what i was looking at (well, maybe i'd guess a saw blade, but i'd still be wondering what is going on in the background). you have proven that you can achieve bokeh, now you need to put it to work, to make it contribute to your images, rather than detract from them. sorry if this is harsh, but that's how i'm seeing your image.

I really enjoyed your bold composition and strong colors, but I think it would have been improved by cropping the "silver" appearing part of the blade on the far left. Good work.

interesting take on the challenge. the BG colours don't seem to add anything and are more of a distraction IMO.

I like this. It has a very unbalanced feel to it (color on the right, BW on the left) and very much an "edgy" photo (no pun intended). The bokeh is sooooo smooth and the lighting perfect. A magical photo. Bumping up.

great saying, have never heard that before. not sure i would say the bokeh here really helps - maybe it was intended to, but it just seems like a mesh of colors that detract from the cold steel look of the foreground. sorry if i missed something here.
