very blair witch

Needs a steeper angle. If judged independent of the contest, I love it.

I cant tell what the main interest point is. Somehow the house in the background is what catches my eye. What is that in the foreground? I like it in B&W--

Interesting title and image. Not really sure what it is I am supposed to be looking at here, but I like the feel and mood created by this image.

nice moody black and white with lots of good textures

Nice black and white, love the composition. Not sure the angle is up, but it sure is from the ground.

Not that it bothers me, just trying to be clever, but I'm pretty sure the camera was pointed down for this one since the 'horizon' of the porch is more than halfway up the frame. I guess the reflections are the bit that addresses the challenge, but what's reflected isn't really apparent.

great use of b&w here ... it really sets the mood. Although you have strong lines from the floorboards and the mat? the camera is on leading away from the house, the bright light from the entrance to the verandah really makes you look there.

I really enjoy the composition of this pic...it pulls me in wonderfully. Well done!

Interesting, the off kilter horizon and dark foreground give it an almost sinister foreboding effect.

There are lots of interesting things in this photo but it's one of those ones where I feel like the elements don't mesh together to provide a whole piece, rather they compete for attention. Eg., the house in the background, the vertical posts, the wet floorboards, and the carpet... nothing takes the focus, everything causes a distraction from everything else. One thing on its own would have been a better subject.

The wetness is very apparent, which is nice. Black/white is fitting for the rainy day, but as per your ground UP perspective...where's up? I see ground, and ahead.

Good shots, but lack of subject.

I like how it leaves me wanting to see more of the neighborhood. It also reminds me of those rainy days you sit around the house and read all day. The lighting is great. I like how you chose b/w.

the picture is definetly from the ground, but up?
04/29/2002 05:56:00 AM
Love the mood. Could have had a differnet angle.
04/29/2002 05:20:00 AM
nice picture, black and white helps a lot
04/29/2002 05:08:00 AM
interesting textures, but doesn't really work for me.

I can't tell what you are focusing on in this picture. More depth of field would help as would better lighting.
04/29/2002 04:50:00 AM
This is an interesting photo but I am having trouble relating it to the challenge. The title isn't helping me either. Kudos on the black and white though :) They are the best!

I like the reflections of the railing in the wet deck boards. It works quite well in black and white. The fact that the right side of the opening is not parallel to the edge of the frame or to the telephone pole bothers me a bit though. Is it like that in 'real life'?
