A good show of movement, although the photo is overexposed in the sky areas. This could have been solved easily by using a combination of the following: slower shutter speed, smaller aperture (f8.0), and the use of flash to light the bird, and exposure set to include the sky and trees. |

Like the idea and the framing of the trees. The telephone cables let the image down a little. |

good to see an image where use of blurred motion is attempted. Not allt hat succesfully, and the background is amazingly distracting, but... |

I can actually see the wind. As others have probably commented... the wires.... |

This image looks like it had a heavy editing hand- like the contrast and birghtness were cranked up too much. I think this shot could be greatly improved by shooting with a different background. The blown out sky and multiple telephone lines cris-crossing the image greatly detract from the photo. A more shallow depth of field might also help, but you might not be able to achieve it and still get the motion blur in the wings (depending on your equipment). Using your flash for some fill lighting might help expose the bird properly without making the sky as overexposed. These are just some techniques that in my opinion might help improve this image. |

Good idea, but the background is a bit distracting. Not sure how high this was, but maybe you could drape a sheet behind it to isolate the whirlybird. |

I would like to have seen the sky with more colour...very washed out/burnt. But you have really gotten the concept of wind across with this shot. |

This does show wind. All the element in the background such as wires and the crooked pole detract from it. 5 |

I'd like to add a comment which you may find useful. I think you have quite an interesting entry. There are a few details which detract from this image, however. First, there is a lot of blue fringing created by an inferior lens on what I suspect to be a consumer digicam that can't quite deliver crisp, clean photos. Ultimately, this is somewhat beyond your control, and I will not be too harsh for this reason. Along the same lines, there is an obvious lack of fine detail in the leaves, lines, branches, and wooden bird. Again this is probably somewhat of a limitation of your camera. I think there's some post processing effects as well, and as you grow more confident in your skills, your images should blossom. I'm learning too, it's a fun, and fascinating hobby. :) |
