It took about 15 minutes to get this shot, I was tossing bolts at this lightbulb. I missed the lightbulb about 25 times, when I finally hit it, The timing was perfect. Then some photoshop to touch up, and thats all she wrote. I had to use a high ISO and I could only get the shutter speed up to 640, due to being to poor to buy the right lighting.

Greetings from the Critique Club...

Your composition is great. You captured enough of everything that the viewer knows exactly what is going on and doesn't have to look around the image to find an area of interest.

The lighting seems a bit dark for my taste, personally. It doesn't look like a flash was used here, but a soft one might have helped. The lighting that was used seems to put some reflections on the bulb which are a little bit distracting, but not too much.

The focus throughout seems a bit soft but that's probably due to the high ISO -- which could be fixed with more light and a faster shutter speed.

Overall, it's a great capture, and I'm sure it took a long time to set up. keep shooting!

great timinig, and prettty good execution of the shot. I think your processing could use work at leaast in dpc terms - the body of the lamp could be cleaner, and possibly brughter for impact, and the background could be taken to black quite easily.

Good stop motion. I think this one is artistically pleasing in the way you cropped it.

Suggestions
- This picture is virtually B&W. I feel that converting it to a duotone would have significantly improved it. I suggest toning with perhaps a violet color, or steel blue, to fit the mood of the photo.
- Could be a hair sharper as well.
- If you have access to a noise removal software program, could have been used to clean up some of the noise.
- Subtle levels and curves adjustment could darken the backdrop a bit.
- I would have burned the hell out of the periphery to give the shatter point a visual highlight and dodged some of the thrown glass to increase the contrast with the darkened backdrop.

These suggestions should be taken in context: it's overall a very interesting and well executed shot. Good luck.

Another great dramatic explosion shot. I'm guessing you had to use a fairly high ISO to get a fast enough shot. The body of the bulb seems a bit fuzzy as a result.

Great timing, a bit weak on lighting. It's the dark background that dulls the whole image a bit too much for my taste.

Composition: 8
Technical: 3, I'm sure these are hard shots to get, but this is just a bit dark & out of focus.

Great capture, this must have been hard to get.
