Thanks for all of the comments.
My challenge entry was totally unplanned. I was holding my 2 month old daughter with my camera beside me on the table. She latched on to my thumb. I set the camera on macro, took three or four shots and this was the best. That is one reason my daughter's hand looks a little washed out, because of the flash at such close range. Also, I mostly desaturated the color here, like in the -80% range. It was mostly reds. I did it the "legal" way as explained in the tutorial.
I am happy there were no "1"s or "2"s on the scoring. |

Ah, this image almost takes my breath away. This is ribbon material. Congrats on your top 20. |

Nice and a timeless pose. The gentle coloring adds nicely to the whole. Two things that would make it better (in my opinion), a tighter crop to eliminate the distracting background on the right and cleaner fingernails on the child's hand. |

I think this needs a softness of light, and of direction of light, that you haven't achieved: this way leaves all the skin seeming quite shiny and ugly. The composition also seems quite threatening - i'm not sure that's what you intend. The adult fist being closed over those small fingers speaks more of enclosure, of suffocation, than of gentleness. I don't know - maybe you intended a more sinister image - it would be unusual for a challenge entry for sure, and it's hard to be certain. |

It says it all. It really is a lovely image and looks spot on technically to me. |

Wow. Technically and artitically magnificent. I like that that babies nails are a little dirty. Nice texture and line. So nice. |

Nice shot, nicely composed, with lighting a tad on the harsh side (making it look very flat.) However, to this voter, this doesn't say 'Time Passing.' It is more of a snoapshot in time showcasing the differences in times... To pick nits a little bit, the childs nails are a bit dirty underneath. ;-)

Good idea which fits the challenge very well. I don't like the shininess of the skin caused by the harsh lighting. 6 |
