The black and white checkerboard is indeed a classic and I think this shot has potential. I like the marble, it's certainly different from the glass and wooden chess pieces that are fairly popular. The reflections in both the checks and the pieces are interesting. I find the section of door a little distracting and think a plain white background may have helped more. I also dont see where the focus is in the image as they all look a little out of focus, or else the image is just generally fairly soft.

Cool idea. I think you could have maximized on the reflections more. The focus seems a little soft, maybe a little further out or a closer focus could have improved this. But still a good shot at an intriguing angle.
