What is a macro shot?

The dust-encrusted, antique clock was a family inheritance, perched patiently on the ultra-modern flat panel television in the photographer's media room. Its hinged glass face barely protected the digits and hands that had not moved in years. Still, the chimes sounded as he slowly adjusted the time to fit his schedule...

* Taken with Nikon D70 on ISO 200 with white lamp, overhead fan globe and speedlight.
* Lens: 28-70 Kit Lens on 70mm
* F18 to dim the overpowered flash that was already stepped down to 1/16th power.
* Speed: 1/200.

Photoshop Raw 16bit, custom WB.
Cropped @ 8x 10 sample 300.
Noise Ninja on preset ISO200 setting.
Drop to 8bit - Save 8x10
Image Resize to maxHeight 640pix.
Save to jpg at Quality4 to preserve exif.

Very nice detail in this. I think the crop is a bit cliché though, and you could have tried something a bit different like new angles and DoF and stuff.
