I shot this in an exterior subterannean chamber of Johkang Temple in Lhasa, Tibet. Tibet is a photographer's dream!

I made the following Photoshop alterations:
- increased the blue and red saturation approximately 10%
- increased overall saturation approximately 10%
- exaggerated overall contrast about 10%
- minor cropping to enhance the overall composition
- added a subtle black and red double border

I did...and the website wouldn't allow the submission because the file size was 15K too big.

Read below. Like most of the comments on "the pic is too small" I was forced to submit a very small photo by the site. The original is far larger.

Actually, I am limited by the file size. I attempted to upload a larger picture that was 640X? and the website would not allow it to be uploaded. I spent 45 minutes resizing the picture DOWN by 10 pixels and submitting it until I finally created one small enough that the website would allow it.

The original is approximately 2K vertical by 1.5K horizontal.

Lee -

The original photo as well as the retouched version I did in photoshop is much higher resolution. However, when I attempted to upload a version that was 640x? it was too large. I had no choice but to make it smaller.

Regardless of resolution, if it exceeds a certain file size then I can't submit it!

I want you to evaluate my work for THE WORK, not the resolution.

Greetings from the Critique Club

Hey, Justin. I think that this image is very well done both technically and compositionally. Unfortunately, I do think that i loses some of its impact due to the small size of it. As most of your comments stated, the size was a little bit too small for people to get an accurate understanding of exactly what was going on in the shot.

BUT DONT LET THIS DISCOURAGE YOU M'BOY! :) Keep submitting...but try to make the shots a little bit bigger as your camera is more than able to make a 640 pixel sized shot. If you need help resampling, you can view the Tutorial about it or give me a PM.

So go out there and take some more shots. If you are in Tibet, DPC viewers and voters will be more than eager to see a part of the world that we rarely get a look at and that we don't understand.

Lastly, I think this shot is slightly underexposed, although I could se how the blown out candle flames could be a problem. So my advice to you would be to just try again. Good diagonals btw---really strengthens the composition.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to PM me.

Thanks for submitting---looking foward to seeing more from you,
Lee

Nice subject. Maybe need a bigger pic next time. Not a fan of the red border.

Nice lighting, almost dreamlike.

To small the really evaluate but I think you had a good idea here

To me, to much contrast, kind of over blows the shot.

bigger next time please :)

Nice composition and technical execution. I would like to see more of it. If your camera can sustain a higher resolution, a large image would be better in my opinion.

Its well done picture dancing lights and reflections but small size always work worser.

Wonderul concept! There are a couple things I think would greatly improve this shot: The picture needs to be larger and I think it might look better in horizontal format. Superb contrast and the flames are lovely!
