Atwater is the name of the small town immediately in front of me (about 2 miles). The sign says ATWATER and points out into the snow.

At first there is a feeling of absolute bleakness- perhaps the black sky lends to that a bit. But then, the mist rises a bit, and we are left with a loneliness, a Tuesday morning alone feel, staring into the distance, waiting for friends to get off of work.

Is this the Atwater vineyard? Am I missing the meaning of the title? At water?

In any case, its solitary despair is beautiful and timeless. It̢۪s a place in a world, anywhere really, lost in time and engulfed in its seclusion.

I got an even more intense feeling of suffocation when I cropped by mistake the bottom part of the picture.

Oh yes! I LOVE this one. It has that soft, ethereal quality that always grabs me, yet it also has a desolate edginess to it that makes it so interesting! Congratulations on the well-deserved juried honorable mention!

I really like it, but I find myself distracted by the road edge.

You've sure captured the wind and cold in this beautiful image.

can't avoid thinking of the road sign as a human figure, or at least a scarecrow in an outworldly IR scenery.

This is a wonderful work of aft. The composition is perfectly balanced. The details, almost hidden, but there for those that take the time to look closely. I'm intrigued by this place... I want to visit, but at the same time, there's a mystery to it which makes me wonder if it's safe. You've made me think... and that's what art should do. Well done.
