Hi there, firstly welcome to DPC, I see that this was your first entry, hope that you have fun here! I love Thailand, spent about 5 months in the country, very beautiful place.

Composition-Content
Overall, your picture is very beautiful, with a fantastic sunset and lovely colours. The positioning of the tree is good, but I think that the lack of focus on the tree detracts from the overall picture, more focus on the tree and the land would have helped this be more of a landscape. In addition, I think that the road, or is it a pole could have been cropped out. It is probably very hard capturing a good shot while driving, but I think that you made a good job of it!
Background
The background here is the focus of the picture, eyes are drawn to the sky and wonderful sunset. I think that more land, possibly with a fill in flash was needed to add foreground interest. Personally, I love the use of silhouettes and I think that if you had got the trees in focus this would have been a great Silhouette picture.
Technical
Exposure and lighting both look great, you have captured the highlights in the sky and also the silhouetted land well. The colour saturation is lovely. I think that the biggest problem here is the focus and only stopping the car, setting up the camera on a tripod and then taking the picture could have sorted this out. One more small thing, the horizon looks a little tilted, maybe you could have corrected this in Photoshop or similar.
My Opinion
I think that its a really pretty picture, I love sunsets, especially intense ones like yours. Luckily, there are plenty of opportunities to photograph beautiful sunsets in Thailand, so maybe we will see some more in the future. Good Luck in thenext challenge and hope that this helps you.

nice colors! I would take one of these with a fill flash too , just to see what the effect would be on the foreground 8

Not much is seen aside from sky.

great sky! but where's the land?

The sky is so lovely in this photograph. I WISH! that you hadn't kept the dark forground, and the road which cuts right through the photograph. I love the sky though! -Annida

Ecellent firy colours however th picture still seems a bit too dark. I'd like to see a bit more detailin the silhouette. Still a great effect. Good luck.

A little too light on the focus. Colors are great. Take advantage of more of the 150 file size.

You managed to catch a very dramatic sunset - don't think I've ever seen one so yellow. Photo just needs something in the foreground, or some landscape element that's visible, to improve the photo. It would be nice to see whats being silhoutted in the picture by exposing more of the bottom half of the photo (using a gradual ND filter?, would be nice but not everyone has one of those)

I dont like the blurry trees in the center-left :)

Absolutely magnificent!!! Brilliant pic, well done!!

Wow, what a sunset! I can't believe those bright colors. I think cropping a lot of the dark foreground would improve the composition.

You have some vivid colors in the sunset/sunrise, whcih are nice. I like the way they contrast with the blues remaining in the sky. The foreground is bugging me a little. Maybe too much. I would have cropped higher on the bottom. Is the blurriness in the trees due to wind? Not much you can do about that. The sky is the main interest here for me.

A great sunset shot but unfortunately the landscape, the part of the image we're voting on, is mostly silhouetted. Nice work, just not for this challenge.

It's a nice, colorful sky, but I'm not sure it does much to enhance the landscape. The land itself is largely rendered invisible, I'm afraid.

Was this taken while driving? The biggest tree looks blurry. Cool sky. It looks overprocessed to me though. The grey clouds in the distance look like they are pretty grainy as do some of the darker spots on the more foreground clouds. This happens to me a lot when trying to increase the saturation too much. Good luck - Inspzil

Was this shot from a moving car? Why are the trees out of focus? Beautiful sky though....
01/14/2003 06:18:39 AM
I think I would rather have seen the landscape illuminated by the setting sun. I am sure it would have done well in a sunset challenge.

Nice sunset. I wish your foreground had been more intereesting than a paved road. Trees seem a bit blured. Was this shot from a moving car?

almost everything BUT land. Awesome sky.

I'm a sucker for a sunset/sunrise and this is no exception - beautiful colors!! Love the silhouetted trees.

Nice colors, some loss of details on the tailest tree though.
01/13/2003 06:27:25 AM
Beautiful colors.. but why is so much of the land blurry? Could have cropped this tighter, since a third of this is completely black.

stunning skyscape, but what about the land?
