(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) Well composed. You have used the rule of thirds and leading line very effectively here. This is a very strong composition and very well balanced.
(2) BACKGROUND I love the background that you have used, the slightly out of focus apples add a true three dimentional feeling to this photograph. I also think that the white table makes the apple in the foreground appear very crisp and fresh.
(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL Exposure seems right on target. The DOF is perfect in my opinion. I think others might be disturbed by the apples in the background, but to me, they are perfect. I love the little details such as the water drops and how the curve of the apple seems to be "hugging" the diamond.
(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL Good processing. There is a good contrast between the red and the white which helps the apple really stand out.
(5)MEETING THE CHALLENGE This photo does a very good job of meeting the challenge. Its the last place I would expect to see a diamond.
(6) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO A very interesting photo. I would love to see this blown up huge (poster size) and hanging in a jewelry store. Very well done. |

Nice idea but took me a while to find the diamond, perhaps the focus on the apple in the forground is a bit soft |

My first impression was "an apple???????? so what?" but then I noticed the diamond! I hope people don't overlook that. Good composition, and the dof works well here, I think. Good colors. |

Nice simple trick. Well taken photo. The diamond stud is about the right size for a seed, so this works well for me. I was hoping for more out of this world strangeness from this challenge, but this does meet the challenge, so...8 Swash |

The title threw me off but looking closer I thnk this is a great idea for the challenge. I don't mind the Apples in the back being out of focus but I would have prefered the piece on the left to be in focus. |

Oh well done for the concept. The image suffers from low tones. The lighting drowned out the redness of the apple. Good luck. |

I didn't get this when I saw it as a thumbnail... now looking at it, I see the diamond in the.. apple... hehehehe? GREAT idea, very appropriate for the challenge, and I love the title. The picture isn't maybe as appealing as it could be, I don't care for the white bottom or the lighting but it's a great idea, and I love your use of DOF. Nice job... -7- |
