Was driving in the mountains, when I saw these tents on the middle of a frozen lake. Must have been fishing, but personlly its the last thing I would want to be doing in -3 degrees!

The first thing that struck me looking at your image was—Yes-how strange—how on earth can we subject ourselves to the intense cold and discomfort-- to catch a fish! Your photo really contrasts the cold of the ice and snow with the pleasure people get from an activity like fishing! We can only wonder –we are very strange!
Your scene also contrasts the white cold ice with the hot and warm tents. The hard ice with the soft fabrics—and this is what makes this a memorable photo—all the inherent contrasts in one image.

Your exposure seems spot on and your focus is good—I see no problems with digital artefacts or noise in the image.

Your composition is fine although not in a classic sense but I feel that you are expressing an ice scene and so you had to show the tents on the ice. If you had concentrated more on the orange tent this might have made a more coherent image—a larger image of the bright orange contrasted with the snow might have been more arresting and grabbed the viewer’s interest faster. Also I am not sure how the saturation of the colours was handled—the picture could stand a bit more colour saturation to really zing the orange neon colours. Having said all that –this was an image I really enjoyed—well done.

This is an intereting concept of the 'stranger' theme. I can't seem to find anything truly inspiring in the imgae... Maybe a human would add some impact :) - setzler

Yes, people are strange! What a vivid photo! I love the placement of the tents, with the green peeking out from behind the orange. Great composition!

Camping on a frozen lake doesn't seem like a "dream" weekend to me either. Very well taken shot. Honestly, I was hoping for more "out of this world" strange, but this is very good. How about a 7? Swash

I like the contrast of color and greyscale in this photo. Meets the challenge well.
