I can't take this situation
It's making me feel so blue
One moment you walked into my life
And now you're saying that we're through
I hear that you're in love now
Baby, don't know what to say
I can't believe that I still feel this way
I hear that you're in love now
Baby, don't know what to say
But before you decide
You won't be mine
Put yourself in my place

Originally performed by Kylie Minogue.

Technical Detail: Lit by a 500w worklamp bounced off the ceiling and a 250w worklamp bounced of a piece of white card on the floor. Converted to a warm grey duotone.

Emotional Detail: Kylie has had a knack of releasing songs that fit my life perfectly. This one summed up how I felt in '94.

Dedicated to the girl who broke my heart.

Critique Club Comment :

Composition : Fantastic composition! Extremely expressive. The lines formed by hands, hair, and forehead lead the eye around very nicely.

Exposure : Not much to say here, it's great.

Focus / DoF : See Exposure...

Challenge / Interest : I didn't know the song, but after reading the lyrics in your comments I have to say you didn't just MET the challenge... You nailed it. The only way I can explain this shot not finishing MUCH higher is that others must not have known the song either.

My opinion : '94 must have been a bad year all around. I can relate to this photo because I was doing the same thing in '94 for much the same reason. This shot shows the "just this side of a total breakdown" that guys go through. Hope your life turned around as well as mine did :) I can hardly remember that bit... err, I mean, that young lady's name anymore :)

Oh my God. The composition is wonderful. I don't know the song but your photo is so emotive and the eyes, well, they are showing a lot of pain for some reason. -10

it's okay man, a receding hairline's nothing you gotta get that worked up about. at least you're talented, lotta guys with full heads of hair out there who can't take pictures. nice eyeballs.

great lighting and expression and good use of black and white... if there was a way to take the pic without the reflection of the photographer in the eyes it would be even better...

Cool photo, I love the wrinkles! Looks a little like Curt Cobain.
