So I went to take a picture of a convenience store (for the challenge) in a very "ghetto" part of town. The part that's on news every week because someone gets stabbed or shot (in fact the other day someone stabbed a taco vendor for some reason or w/o a reason at that intersection). Anyway, of course, a picture of a convenience store is more important than being worried about staying safe. So when I was taking my picture some Hispanic guy started talking to me. He seemed to be nice. I had my mace ready to use just in case. The guy was an alcoholic and he had a lot of stuff to say about some things from his past, about how dangerous that part of town was, how disrespectful and violent teenagers are nowadays, and that a white girl like myself shouldn't wander around with a camera without company etc. I loved the expression on his face and I liked his shadow. I think the background made it more interesting because it said more about his culture.

I love his pose and expression and I'll bet this is exactly what he was saying - or had been. The shadow on the right - traffic light? - is distracting as is the small triangle of concrete in the lower left. 8 Voted earlier.

Excellent shadow and backdrop. The only distracting element is the shadow on the right.
