This is the owner of Robachers Watermolen restaurant at Christmas Dinner, serving the soup. The man is know for his high quality restaurant, his friendliness, punctuality, memory, choice of clothes, style and the moustache.
First of all, pic was taken in manual exposure mode with a full power head on external flash (Sunpak 144), no bounce opportunities. The camera was in F8 to ensure good focus.
I have cropped out the hair of an ugly girl at the right, but wanted to keep the people at the left in.
I used Gordon's site about B&W conversion and duotoning. So first a 30% red, 40%green and 30% blue, channel mixer. Converted to gray scale. Duotoned with Pantone 4655 CVC (Mauve 1). Contrast adjustment -20. Resampled to 600x5something, Unsharp mask 100% 0,4 1, save for the web.
I know that is better to have the subject to look into the photo, to show what he is looking at or what he is going to do. I didn't have much choice and I didn't want to bother him all evening (the surprise element was gone after this shot). I hope that the people behind also give a clue to what he is going to do. |

I love the moustache. I know this can't be you. And I love the building it is in. Tis must be a restaurant that has the times theme. The focus if fantastic and I love the cropping, with the customers in the back. Adds authenticity to his outfit and moustache. Where in the world is this place? This is an awesome photo and would definitely be a 9 in my book. PTL |

An interesting character, and an intriguing photo. I think I would have probably focused more on him by cropping out the couple at the table behind him, however, overall, I do like the photo. |

Looks like a pretty classy guy:) I like this shot. It really looks like it would've been taken at the turn of the century. Jacko. 8 |
