I posted This photo on photosig. Personally I think the girl ads interest to the picture. But some suggest that the picture would be better without her. Please tell me what you think.

Definitely WITH THE GIRL - adds foreground interest.

I agree with Galina. That girl adds to this image. As an architectural image, it is very good. But, as a strong glamour image, it is even better.

The girl makes the photo without here all you have is a bunch of columns. She adds the interest to the shot. |

hey, that's a good shot dude...
I like it with the girl, since I'm not an very much onto buildings, she gives the picture an very good balance, or may I say... - it is lot a lot more interesting... - it's alife.

Nice picture, damitriel. It's not a strong preference but i would prefer the picture without the woman (besides, i find your title a little ho-hum :) Yes, she tells me how tall these columns are but i already have that sense anyway. She seems to me just a little too touristy to add to the shot. I do my best to keep people out of shots unless there is a specific reason to put them in. Might have worked better if she were dressed less touristy and perhaps looking INTO the colonnade (?) instead of out. As i said, not a strong preference. |

I say, definitely WITH the girl! By the way, nice job getting rid of the people in the background. And I like it in b$w... |

I agree it is a great photo. One thing though that bugs me is that her head is facing the wrong way. It makes me want to see more where she is looking. I think that is what the photographer taking the pictures was doing. The eye should always lead you through the pictures not away.

As is?- With the girl.
I agree, I'd prefer to see less of a 'posed' and more 'captured' creature in her place, looking, moving or gesturing 'into' the centre to 'humanize' the architecture and to keep 'tension' or a 'dynamic' in the shot.

I too like the girl in it..makes it a much interesting photo...adds a little warmth to an otherwise 'cold' shot of pillars.

With the girl, definitely. In this case it does not bother me that she's looking out of the picture, IMHO it adds a bit of "mystery", makes me wonder, "What is she looking at?", and I like that. |

I can see how some folks might like the sterile purity of the just-columns shot, but I prefer it with the girl in.
