Solitudeby farraComment: The simplicity of this works so well. The processing is great here. Love the effect you have through this and the use of the B&W presentation |

Food 17 - Salmon with vanilla cremeby hajekaComment: You are making me hungry.........A new rule should be any food images you should provide me with a sample......the UK is just across the water from The Netherlands anyway..........I don't know what salted fried Sprat is so it wouldn't make me as hungry as those Salmon crackers are..........
Good composition and depth of field. Even the Parsley here adds to the overall balance of the image. Another great food image.
After reading the other comments, I will disagree with them. I think food is best photographed like this, white plate and white background, especially with this dish, as the pink of the Salmon in the colour added, and the plate does not draw any attention away from the subject

BIRD IN THE WIREby nivlekComment: have been many places when these guys try and get food when I was back home. I also remember years ago when we were encouraged to feed them in a couple of National Parks......Fortunately times have changed there.
The wire is a great effect here. It is much less apparent on the Bird but creates a great effect through the background, helping blur it out and emphasise the bird as the subject. Its a great example of using what most would see as a problem (shooting through fly screen) into a positive element in the image. The different subtle colours through the background also work well, especially with the vivid colours that the Lorikeet has........... |

Abstractions #018by rooumComment: Would love to have some more details on how you created this (And others you have done) as you have produced some great abstracts so far. Also is a great contrast to many of the other images.
Composition is good and the colour choice is really good as well. It is another very interesting image |

Pause in the argumentby mercaptanComment: A really good idea here, but I feel the execution lets it down a bit. I note you have exposed the image for the surrounds, and presume you had a long exposure that allowed you to move positions. The negative that always comes with that method is the ghosting that occurs, and here the bright (and busy) background showing through does effect the overall result.
The use of flash in these cases (flash, change position, flash again) usually gives better results, as does being on a dark background so that there is less effect on your image.
But a great try at it.
Also, I am sure others have noticed, the image is tilted......... |

Clan in Canberraby vladoComment: It scares me how big you kids are getting
Composition of the image is great, as we can clearly see parliament house as where you guys are.
In terms of the family positions, I would swap Michael and Arijana (sorry, my spelling is probably wrong). Michael at the moment is too much in front of Michelle.\But its not always easy getting 8 in the photo.
Glad you got good weather in Canberra. Every time I go there it rains. |

PaW2010 Week15by TerComment: The composition of this works well. I presume you were doing similar for the other shots as well. it gets it away from the boring portraits that people often get done. I understand what you mean by the effect, but I think you are right on the edge. Any more and they would look like cartoons so the processing is pretty much right |

Untitledby bspurgeonComment: The Shallow depth of field has created the effect here. Some will like it, others not. I like the shallowness of this, the way at the top and bottom there is just lines and then the detail blends in and out |

PaW2010-Week-16-Outtake2by TerComment: The Old Thomson River Rail Bridge. If you time it right, you can sometimes get it with the Steam Train on the bridge. Another great image. The darkening of the sky at the top though doesn't really work abd gives an unreal look to the sky. |
