Okay, this one I can relate to. I live in Arizona and my once beautiful garden now looks just like this! A sharper focus might make the leaves look even more crisp and dried out.

Very interesting shot. Despite appearances, I hope the subject wasn't actually surrounded by bees. It might have seemed a trifle less staged if she weren't looking directly at the camera. Although I like this shot generally, my initial reaction would be one of desperation or panic, and not desolation, but maybe that's just me.

I like this composition a lot. I'm surprised that so much can be conveyed in what amounts to a small proportion of the image through the use of lighting. Really nice!

I'm not at all sure insects experience emotions, but I really like this shot. Nice macro. I would have cropped a little bit more off the left and bottom, but it's still got interesting lines.

Well composed photo with a subtle diagonal leading me from the walkway to the clouds. The landscape is certainly stark, but the bright blue sky and picnic table and grill tend to work against the topic for me.

Very nicely composed image. Good contrast and positioning of all the elements in this photo. My only quibble with it is that this person looks too well dressed and well groomed to evoke much sympathy for his lack of pocket change. 8

I like the hint of an S-curve and the smoke plumes certainly add interest. I wonder if it might have been even more dynamic if you'd placed the horizon line higher or lower so that the image isn't divided in half.
